Portsmouth favourite pulls no punches as Blues dealt ‘sucker punch’ against Blackburn Rovers
Pompey suffered stoppage-time disappointment against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
Connor Ogilvie has pulled no punches after Pompey’s ‘sickening’ draw against Blackburn Rovers.
And the 30-year-old understands John Mousinho’s anger and frustration as the Blues threw away maximum points against their relegation rivals.
But there would be huge drama as the Blues switched off in stoppage time as one-time Fratton loanee Hayden Carter headed home a late equaliser to share the points in Lancashire.
The Rovers centre-back rose highest and met Ryoya Morishita’s cross as Mousinho’s men failed to prevent the onslaught.
And Ogilvie was furious with the manner in which his side threw away a hugely-important three points, which could’ve put further daylight between themselves and the bottom three.
Pompey favourite pulls no punches over Blackburn draw
He said: ‘Yeah it was a sickening blow. We probably controlled a game, got the goal quite late on and then to concede, it’s a sucker punch.
‘Especially that late on (when he scored). Just really disappointed. The boys are a bit low in there, but we need to regroup and go again now.
‘As he should, as he should. (We) shouldn't concede goals like that, especially that late on after scoring ourselves for seeing games out and we didn't and we need to be better.
‘I think we've had control of the last probably 10 weeks or so and we just need to convert that control and dominance into wins now.
‘Like I said, scoring that late on, we shouldn't draw the game and we did. We need to fix that.’
‘Obviously, it's not bad with the results that we've had and the lushes that we had before, we should be better than what we are. But that's football and we have to fix that.
‘I think we've had, like I said, a lot of dominant games and we've had some good wins in there and then some bad losses, and we need to turn them losses into wins.
‘It’s been like that for the past 10 weeks or so and we just need to focus on turning those draws and losses playing well into wins.
‘It doesn’t matter how they come, we could be awful and win but we’d rather that than play well and lose or draw.’
Pompey calls for fortress Fratton in survival battle

The draw now leaves Pompey five points clear of West Brom - at the time of writing - with the Blues still looking over their shoulders with 11 games to go.
Mousinho’s troops then face Swansea City in midweek at Fratton Park before Derby County visit PO4 on March 16.
And Ogilvie is adamant the Blues have to make PO4 a fortress in the remaining weeks of the campaign to aid their survival bid.
He added: ‘It will be (a long bus journey home) and it will be for the fans, they’ll be disappointed as well so we will need to make it right on Tuesday.
‘We need to sort the home wins, it was massive for us last year and we need to make it a fortress.
‘We need to carry on what we are doing. Taking our chances when they come, we’ve been dominant but we’ve not had that killer instinct of killing games off.
‘We did at Charlton and we did at Millwall but we need to do that at home now.’
