Celtic readying move on Portsmouth rivals as Premier League side prepare audacious £50m West Ham raid
The latest transfer headlines involving Pompey’s Championship rivals.
It’s poised to be a frenetic climax to the transfer window at Fratton Park as Pompey eye late-window business.
The Blues have already added nine new faces to John Mousinho’s squad, with that number set to increase ahead of the September 1 deadline.

Departures are also on the cards in the final week of the window as the Blues look to trim down their squad.
Hayden Matthews, Luke Le Roux, Josef Bursik and more could all potentially leave before the market’s climax, while the futures of Josh Knight and Harvey Blair are also under the spotlight.
Elsewhere, gossip and speculation continues to do the rounds across the Championship as clubs eye late-window business.
Here are the latest transfer headlines involving Pompey’s second-tier rivals.
Celtic eyeing Southampton man
Celtic are plotting a move for Southampton defender Yukinari Sugawara, according to reports.
Football Insider have claimed the right-back is on Martin O’Neill’s shopping list as they target defensive reinforcements in the final week of the window.
The report states the Hoops are working on a season-long loan agreement for the Japanese international, who is expected to depart St Mary’s before the market’s conclusion.
It has been claimed, however, that other clubs are interested in the out-of-favour Sugawara, who is yet to feature for Tonda Eckert’s side in the Championship this season.
After making the move from AZ Alkmaar in 2024, the full-back has amassed 35 appearances in all competitions for Pompey’s south-coast rivals but spent last term on loan with German outfit Werder Bremen.
The 26-year-old is now expected to depart ahead of the September 1 deadline, with Celtic keen to secure his signature in order to provide cover for the injured Alistair Johnston.
Mousinho’s men, of course, make the trip across the M27 to St Mary’s on October 11 after the three-week international break.
Crystal Palace eye West Ham raid

Crystal Palace are reportedly ready to launch an audacious bid to land Jarrod Bowen this summer.
The Sun have suggested the Eagles have identified the West Ham captain as a key attacking target in the final seven days of the window.
The report states Pierre Sage’s side are preparing a £50m offer to secure the 29-year-old, despite the forward committing his future to the London Stadium earlier this summer following the Hammers’ relegation.
Palace are looking to offload Ismaila Sarr before deadline day, with Bowen viewed as a key addition on the right wing at Selhurst Park.
It is hoped the chance to play Premier League football could be enough to convince the forward to make the switch across London, although Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are not looking to part ways with the skipper.
Bowen has started all three of West Ham’s opening three matches of the campaign and netted against Pompey in their 3-1 triumph over the Blues in the first round of the Carabao Cup earlier this month.
