Portsmouth rivals plotting £4m Premier League swoop as Middlesbrough eye Crystal Palace sensation

The latest transfer headlines involving Pompey’s Championship rivals.

It’s been a quiet start to the transfer window at Fratton Park after the shutters came up on Monday.

The Blues have conducted one piece of business in the first week of the market, tying long-serving left-back Connor Ogilvie to a new deal.

The 30-year-old, who has featured 196 times in all competitions since his 2021 arrival, extended his stay for a further two years, with his fresh terms set to run until 2028.

Pompey are working hard to secure their targets, with the picture once again changing with long-term target Luke Graham.

The Dundee man was the subject of several bids, starting at £1.5m, by the Blues in January as the head coach looked to strengthen his backline.

Gossip and speculation is heating up elsewhere in the Championship as Pompey’s rivals continue to conduct their early business.

Here are the latest headlines from across the division.

Norwich City plot £4m Hull City raid

Phillipe Clement is wasting no time in assembling his Norwich City squad as he takes charge of his first summer window at Carrow Road.

The Canaries, of course, enjoyed an outstanding run across the second-half of the season as they secured a ninth-placed finish, which also included a 1-1 draw against Pompey on Good Friday.

Having already completed the signings of Bruno Alves and Sam Field, the Norfolk outfit have their eyes on an ambitious Premier League raid.

Football Insider’s transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke has reported Hull City’s Ryan Giles is firmly on the radar of the football operations at Carrow Road.

The article states Norwich are one of several Championship clubs ‘considering’ the left-back, who could be available for £4m, this summer.

The 26-year-old is entering the final 12 months of his current MKM Stadium deal and that has apparently alerted a number of second-tier clubs - including Norwich, who are believed to be leading the chase.

Giles was an ever-present in Sergej Jakirovic’s side last term as they secured a Premier League return through the play-offs.

The former England youth international collected eight assists in his 35 Championship outings also posing as an attacking threat on the left flank.

Middlesbrough are eyeing a move for Crystal Palace talent David Ozoh, according to reports.

Transfer guru Alan Nixon has claimed Boro are showing an interest in the 22-year-old, who thrived during a successful loan with Derby County last term.

It is believed Kim Hellberg’s side have identified the Selhurst Park academy graduate as an ideal replacement for the in-demand Hayden Hackney, who is expected to depart the Riverside Stadium this summer.

The report states Middlesbrough could use Ozoh in their negotiations regarding Hackney, with the Eagles one of the Premier League side’s keeping tabs.

The England youth international amassed 35 appearances for Derby last season during his maiden loan stint away from Selhurst Park.

After missing December’s 1-1 draw against Pompey at Pride Park through injury, Ozoh came off the bench during the Rams’ 1-0 win at Fratton Park in March’s reverse fixture.
