Portsmouth boss John Mousinho delivers key injury update on latest addition to the treatment room

The striker has one goal in 10 appearances for the Blues this season

John Mousinho has provided an encouraging injury update over Colby Bishop.

The striker felt a knee issue during the warm-up before Saturday’s 1-0 win at Norwich and, having already been named on the bench, was unable to be called upon.

He was subsequently sent for a scan, which revealed ‘nothing more serious’ than bone bruising, which would considerably reduce his time on the sidelines.

However, Mousinho revealed Bishop is now to undergo another scan, serving as a second opinion, before the Blues can be confident over his return.

‘We just have to check from a different angle’

Mousinho told The News: ‘Colby’s injury isn’t too bad, we’ll send him for another scan just to double check that it is bone bruising and nothing more serious.

‘If it’s bone bruising with Colby then he can get on with it, it’s just about pain management and then we’ll go from there.

‘It’s his knee. The first scan revealed a bit of bone bruising, we just have to check from a different angle and make sure that is okay.

‘We didn’t make any substitutions at Wolves based on injuries, so that looks good. We have some tired bodies in there, as you would imagine, it’s just about that rest and recovery building up to the weekend.’

Surprisingly, Pompey had Thomas Waddingham on the bench at Molineux following his recovery from an ankle injury.

Mousinho had been in the process of introducing him in the 86th minute when Terry Devlin’s stunning strike dragged the Blues level.

Connor Ogilvie was also part of the travelling party, although Mousinho insists the dependable defender is not yet ready to make his long-awaited return.

‘I don’t think we will have anyone back before Millwall’

He added: ‘I don’t think we will have anyone back before Millwall unfortunately, but the gap after that should hopefully give us a chance to give Murph a full week. Hopefully we’ll have him back for the Burnley game.

‘I don’t think any of them are too close off the back of that, but Wadds having another week there should really help.

‘Franco is probably a couple of weeks away from just having a small contribution, so we just have to be careful. Connor Ogilvie travelled to Molineux to keep him involved, but he’s still quite far off.’
