A Pompey Academy side stepped into a first-team fixture and claimed an impressive draw at Farnborough.
With John Mousinho’s men flying out to Germany on Thursday morning, it was an Academy team which turned out against their National League South opponents.
Kyran Sylvanus opened the scoring for the Blues in the 21st minute, although they should have gone in at the break well ahead, missing a string of other opportunities.
Farnborough levelled in the 65th minute from a thumping header from Mason Bloomfield, while Ethan Bell’s excellent late save ensured Pompey claimed a 1-1 draw.
And here are our Pompey player ratings...

5. Nathaniel Chioma - 8
Has seen football with John Mousinho's team this summer and clearly benefitted with a dominant showing. Whether at left-back or right-back, looked the part. | Simon Roe/ProSportsImages

6. Tadi Bare - 7
(Replaced by George Tregunna on 70 mins) - Handed the captain’s armband and dictated Pompey’s play from deep, showing good energy and awareness, while keeping possession well. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages

7. Fraser Thomas - 7
(Replaced by Cruz Connor on 70 mins) - Impressed in last summer’s Farnborough friendly and was back again with another encouraging showing. Sees a pass and always seems to have a bit of time on the ball. | Jason Brown

8. Chinedu Agu - 7
(Replaced by Dane Bailey on 46 mins) Lovely through ball to put Lee clear on goal after 13 minutes, but the attacker failed to capitalise. Combined well with Ani down the left flank, always willing to track back and compete. Strong showing. | Simon Roe/ProSportsImages
