A Pompey Academy side stepped into a first-team fixture and claimed an impressive draw at Farnborough.
With John Mousinho’s men flying out to Germany on Thursday morning, it was an Academy team which turned out against their National League South opponents.
Kyran Sylvanus opened the scoring for the Blues in the 21st minute, although they should have gone in at the break well ahead, missing a string of other opportunities.
Farnborough levelled in the 65th minute from a thumping header from Mason Bloomfield, while Ethan Bell’s excellent late save ensured Pompey claimed a 1-1 draw.
And here are our Pompey player ratings...

1. Ethan Bell - 8
The late hero with a stunning finger-tip save to prevent a last-gasp Farnborough win. Came for plenty of crosses and was pretty much faultless in his handling in an excellent all-round showing. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages

2. Michael Ani - 8
Multi-talented Ani has played on the right wing in first-team friendlies this summer, but was back to his more natural right-back slot. Then switched to centre-half at the interval. Ferocious in the tackle and a combative performer. | Simon Roe/ProSportsImages

3. Ashton Sizer - 7
(Replaced by Max Hammond on 46 mins) Very composed showing in the centre of defence from the Waterlooville lad. Physical, calm and always in control, will be pleased with his display. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages

4. George Wilson - 8
(Replaced by Ben Philipson on 70 mins) Dominant aerially and also well in command on the ground. Loves a block and a tackle. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages
