After battling back to draw 2-2 with the Pilgrims, the Blues will be keen to pick up three points for the first time since victory over Shrewsbury Town in mid-August.
Since that success at Fratton Park, the Blues have recorded four defeats and one draw - with Tuesday’s stalemate preventing Cowley from suffering his worst run of league results as a manager.
The former Lincoln boss isn’t expected to chop and change his line-up for the trip to The Valley, as he’ll give the players who performed valiantly at Fratton Park another chance to shine.
Mahlon Romeo will be one to keep an eye on as he looks to maintain his impressive form on his return to south London.

9. Left wing-back - Lee Brown
Brown became the Blues' leading scorer in the league on Tuesday night when he expertly dispatched a free-kick in the sixth minute. Speaking at full-time, the defender revealed how his pre-match homework allowed him to shrewdly catch the Argyle defenders and goalkeeper off guard as he slotted the ball under the wall. A slightly advanced role is relatively new to Brown but he also explained how he's happy to play any position Cowley wants him to. Photo: JPIMedia

10. Attacking midfield - Marcus Harness
Harness was far more effective playing behind the two strikers on Tuesday than in previous matches where he's featured on the wing. He was full of endeavor at Fratton Park, but will need to find a level of consistency to his game if he is to be a invaluable asset to Danny Cowley this season. Photo: JPIMedia

11. Striker 1 - John Marquis
Danny Cowley is expected to start Marquis alongside Ronan Curtis again due to his immense pressing off the ball. However, a run of one goal in nine games this season is leaving a lot to be desired from Pompey fans, especially after his glaring miss in front of the Fratton End on Tuesday night. All it may take is one goal to get the former Doncaster marksman going; here's hoping it arrives on Saturday. Photo: JPIMedia

12. Striker 2 - Ronan Curtis
Curtis was slightly anonymous during the first half against Plymouth but came alive during the second, and grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck as Pompey chased a late equaliser. He scored his first goal of the season in the defeat to Cambridge with Blues fans hoping that he'll rediscover his previously outstanding form in Blues colours. This role is something Curtis prefers, so fingers crossed it helps improve his importance to the team. Photo: JPIMedia
