So much so that we have been able to produce another round of some of the most surreal and odd occasions in the club’s existence.
It’s time to forget all the on-pitch frustrations and recalls some of the crazier incidents from years gone by. How many can you remember?

9. Kit capers
The home clash with Coventry in the 2001-02 proved memorable for unusual reasons as referee Graham Barber stated both Coventry's sky blue and dark blue changed kit clashed with Pompey's royal blue. Cue the visitors borrowing Pompey's changed orange shirts for the day and their striker Lee Mills wearing the same kit he'd worn for his old side the previous season. 10. Acting up
Pompey were bound for the Premier League in 2003 under Harry Redknapp, but Sheffield Wednesday arrived and stopped the Blues gaining automatic promotion with a 2-1 win. The story goes there was one Coronation Street actor present that day who got a little too exuberant after the game - and came a cropper as he left the ground... Photo: Christopher Furlong

11. That's quackers!
Relations between Pompey and Southampton have never been the best, but things deteriorated at boardroom level between the clubs in 2005 over Harry Redknapp’s return to Fratton Park. Lowe complained to the Football League and Premier League over the matter - leading to Mandaric sending his counterpart a dead duck, a reference to Lowe going duck shooting when the Blues were trying to conclude the deal! 12. Time to make a statement
New Pompey owner Michael Eisner was present to watch a frustrating home defeat to Oldham in the 2017-18. One young Pompey fan got so frustrated with the visitor's timewasting he legged it on to the pitch and took a goal-kick to cheers from the home crowd! Photo: Joe Pepler/Digital South
