So much so that we have been able to produce another round of some of the most surreal and odd occasions in the club’s existence.
It’s time to forget all the on-pitch frustrations and recalls some of the crazier incidents from years gone by. How many can you remember?

5. Wolfie woe
Wolves mascot Wolfie bit off more than he could chew on one visit to Fratton Park. Getting a little to exuberant in range of a police dog led to the larger than life character coming off firmly second best. Photo: Ben Radford

6. Promotion party lit up
The Fratton celebrations were something to behold in 1987 as Pompey returned to the top flight after a 28-year absence. The pitch invasions were standard - a fan choosing to scale a floodlight after a bevy or 10 perhaps less so. Photo: -

7. Henry's a Pompey fan
An iconic image as Thierry Henry, then arguably the world's greatest player, dons a Pompey shirt after a 1-1 draw at Fratton in May 2004. The Arsenal legend recognised the class of Blues fans who saluted him after running Harry Redknapp's side ragged in the FA Cup a couple of months earlier. Photo: Matthew Ashton

8. A day of glory
