John Mousinho’s side secured a 1-1 draw at the home of Trotters, which now leaves just one point away from promotion heading into Tuesday’s visit of Barnsley.
Abu Kamara opened the scoring on seven minutes for Pompey, only to be cancelled out by Aaron Collins’ header, also in the first half.
It was a dogged defensive display from the visitors, who were largely reliant on counter-attacking to threaten Bolton, yet they held on to claim a point, while denying their promotion rivals the opportunity to close the gap.
And here are our Pompey player ratings...
13. Tino Anjorin - 7
(Replaced Owen Moxon on 46 mins) Made huge difference to Pompey's play when introduced at half-time in a deeper central midfield role. Very, very good. Photo: Jason Brown
14. Kusini Yengi - 6
(Replaced Colby Bishop on 58 mins) Didn't get much change out of Santos on this occasion. Late penalty shout looked decent. Photo: Jason Brown
15. Christian Saydee - 6
(Replaced Callum Lang on 58 mins) A few good moments, but mainly had to aid the Blues in defensively situations rather than further forward. Photo: Jason Brown
16. Gavin Whyte - 6
(Replaced Paddy Lane on 58 mins) Always gives work-rate and energy, which is what was required in the circumstances. Did a good job. Photo: Jason Brown
