That hasn’t stopped the Blues from announcing News/Sports Mail player of the season Sean Raggett as the latest player to commit their future to the club.
But the Fratton faithful believe more needs to be done in order to strengthen ahead of next term.
History shows Pompey usually complete their first acquisition between May and June.
Yet, with the club sticking by that June 10 date for transfers to be registered, there should be no reason to panic amongst the Blue Army...
We’ve taken a look at each of the Fratton Park outfit’s first summer signings from the past 10 years to see how they compare.
Here’s what we found.

9. Sean Raggett - 2020
Raggett initially arrived on the south coast in 2019 on loan from Norwich and went on to amass 38 outings during the 2019-20 campaign. He made his switch permanent on August 3 2020, becoming the first signing completed by Kenny Jackett after the Covid lockdown. The 28-year-old recently penned a two-year deal to keep him at Fratton Park until 2024 following an excellent season, which saw him awarded the The News/Sports Mail player of the season last term. 10. Liam Vincent - 2021
The young left-back arrived at Fratton Park on June 2, marking the first summer signing made by Danny Cowley. Vincent joined on an undisclosed fee after an impressive season in the National League at Bromley. But his time at PO4 has been far from straightforward with multiple shin injuries limiting the 19-year-old to just just substitute appearances during his Pompey spell. Photo: Portsmouth FC
