After wins over Stevenage and Colchester in the Carabao Cup and EFL Trophy respectively, the Blues’ latest promotion push will start at Fratton Park.
Kenny Jackett named a strong side in the 2-0 victory against Colchester on Tuesday, handing debuts to new-boys Cameron Pring and Callum Johnson.
A fast start in the third tier is required, with pressure on Jackett after last campaign’s play-off disappointment at Oxford.
Here's the team the Pompey boss looks likely to name as he bids to start the league season with three points...

13. Sub 2 - James Bolton
A versatile option on the bench as he's capable of playing centre-back and right-back. Photo: Jason Brown

14. Sub 3 - Lee Brown
It's a close battle between him and Cameron Pring to start. Photo: Jason Brown

15. Sub 4 - Ben Close
Will feel slightly unlucky to have been pushed down the pecking order and determined to get another chance. Photo: Jason Brown

16. Sub 5 - Andy Cannon
Made a good impact when he came on against Colchester. It wouldn't be a major surprise if he started, either. Photo: Joe Pepler
