After wins over Stevenage and Colchester in the Carabao Cup and EFL Trophy respectively, the Blues’ latest promotion push will start at Fratton Park.
Kenny Jackett named a strong side in the 2-0 victory against Colchester on Tuesday, handing debuts to new-boys Cameron Pring and Callum Johnson.
A fast start in the third tier is required, with pressure on Jackett after last campaign’s play-off disappointment at Oxford.
Here's the team the Pompey boss looks likely to name as he bids to start the league season with three points...

5. Left-back - Cameron Pring
Grew into his debut against Colchester. It's a tight call between him and Brown, but Shrewsbury are likely to play on the back foot and Pring's attacking threat could see him given the nod. Photo: Joe Pepler

6. Holding midfield - Tom Naylor
Pompey skipper has firmly put his disappointment of missing out on the play-offs behind him and is once again one of the first names on the team sheet. Photo: Joe Pepler

7. Holding midfield - Bryn Morris
The ex-Middlesbrough man has thrust himself into Kenny Jackett's plans since recovering from injury and is building a decent partnership in the engine room with Tom Naylor. Photo: Joe Pepler

8. Right wing - Marcus Harness
