The Blues have now entered a hugely important January transfer window, one which will dictate whether they successfully fight against the drop for consecutive seasons.
And here are our Blues player ratings for the campaign so far…

9. Jacob Farrell - NA
(1 game) Another injury-ravaged season so far for the Australian, with Pompey now looking to recruit another left-back to rival Ogilvie. Surprisingly returned to the bench on New Year’s Day against Bristol City, yet there are doubts over whether his body can be relied on. Sole appearance was a forgettable display in Carabao Cup defeat to Reading and couldn’t even make the squad after that before groin injury struck. Photo: Simon Roe

10. Hayden Matthews - 6.5
(13 games, 0 goals) Until recently, had struggled to recapture last season’s form, slipping down to fourth or fifth-choice centre-half this term. However, a run of five successive starts since last month saw the real Hayden Matthews re-emerge in a welcome sight for Pompey fans. However, after making way for Shaughnessy at Bristol City, he appeared as a substitute and injured his ankle. So yet another set-back. Photo: Graham Hunt

11. Josh Knight - 5
(14 games, 0 goals) Much was hoped of the centre-half when he arrived from Hannover this summer and injuries quickly handed him a first-team run. However, he has yet to fire and is currently out through injury. Frustratingly, there have definitely been good moments, while his willingness to drive with the ball is welcome, but Knight hasn’t been dominant enough in either box. Photo: Graham Hunt

12. Conor Shaughnessy - 7
(8 games, 1 goals) Started the season superbly in tandem with Poole, then arrived that horrible moment against Sheffield Wednesday when he tore his hamstring, enabling George Brown to waltz through to score the visitors’ second. After 16 games out, marked his return against Charlton with a goal during the Blues win. Without doubt a championship-calibre player and an outstanding defender - the talented Irishman just needs to stay fit. Photo: Graham Hunt
