And it’s shaping up into a critical period of recruitment for Pompey and their Championship hopes.

The 6ft 3in Irishman has stacks of Championship experience at Hull, but hasn’t started a game for the Tigers since the start of October after losing his place to promising former Wigan man Charlie Hughes.
