Paralympian Lauren Steadman has become the first ever ambassador for Portsmouth fostering organisation Fair Ways, bringing her gold-standard determination, strength and success to support the next generation.

Fair Ways says it is delighted to have gold medallist, triathlete, and motivational speaker, Lauren, on board as its very first ambassador, describing her as a true inspiration.

Lauren is a world-class athlete, who herself has overcome challenges with strength and determination, using her platform to promote inclusion, resilience, and positive wellbeing.

I’m delighted to become part of the Fair Ways family. The charity’s commitment to empowering people and supporting them through life’s challenges really resonates with me. I can’t wait to meet the incredible individuals who make Fair Ways so special.

She will be working to raise awareness of what Fair Ways does in education, family, residential and community services, as well as engaging directly with the young people and adults it supports, sharing her story and helping inspire confidence, self-belief, and hope.

Mac McHugh, Chief Executive Officer of Fair Ways, said: “Lauren’s passion for helping others reach their potential mirrors everything Fair Ways stands for. We’re honoured to welcome her as our first Ambassador and excited to see the positive impact she will have on our young people and the wider Fair Ways community.”

Background

Fair Ways works with a variety of foster families, from first-timers to experienced fosterers, as well as encouraging Portsmouth businesses to be foster-family friendly.

For a young person, the support of fostering in a family home can have a more successful outcome than being placed in a residential children’s home – and becoming a foster carer can also have a very positive impact on the lives of carers too.

Choosing an agency to foster with is one of the most important points to consider when starting your fostering journey. Fair Ways is your there to help you every step of the way.

Fair Ways Fostering service is rated as “Good” by Ofsted. The charity is recognised for the high levels of support it offers to its foster carers and the young people in its care.

Fair Ways can help employers write their fostering friendly policy. They will work with them throughout the journey to enable workers to become foster carers, while continuing their day-to-day work roles. You can find out more about becoming a foster-friendly employer here.
