I’ve worn these waterproof Merrell walking shoes for five years – now they’re £69 in spring sale (aff)

After five years of daily wear in mud, rain and mountain hikes, these Merrell Gore-Tex walking shoes are now reduced to £69 – and some sizes are already selling out.

I've been wearing these shoes for the best part of five years. Granted, I'm on my second pair now, but the old pair is still going strong, taking on lighter duties around the garden, and my new pair has put in a year of hard graft and still feel perfectly comfortable.

They're Merrell Accentor Sport 3s, and they're designed as an all-duty walking shoe that can take on anything from a moderate hike, to a muddy walk to the shops.

I literally wear mine every day. I've climbed mountains in Snowdonia in them, I've tramped through muddy fields with my dogs in tow, and I've still cut quite the dash in my local pub. In my head at least.

Merrell shoes are quite simply the most comfortable footwear I've ever worn, and I will always go back to the brand, but these Accentor Sport 3s have been the best yet.

They're laced with Gore-Tex, which gives them a waterproof layer, and it really does work. I know this because I have a dog who has a habit of losing his tennis balls in streams and I'm the one that has to wade in and rescue them.

As good as Gore-Tex is, this addition usually makes any clothing rather expensive, and the Accentor Sport 3s are normally priced around £100 (the RRP is £140) but I've just seen them at Go Outdoors for £69.97. And that's an absolute bargain.

In the interests of full disclosure, you need to be a Go Outdoors member to unlock that price, and membership costs £5 per year.

Delivery is only free once you've spent £80 or more, but it's only £3.95 for these shoes.

They do come in a more sober grey colour, but they cost more, and two of the size options are already sold out.

But if you can find a pair that fits, and especially if you already have a Go Outdoors membership, this is such a bargain.

In fact, I'm tempted to buy a pair myself. It might be another year or so before I need them, but they can stay in their box for when I do. I just don't want to miss that deal.
