The discounted Vodafone plan lets customers keep their current phone while gaining unlimited data, 5G+ access and inclusive European roaming

Mobile customers happy with their current handset could save hundreds of pounds by changing the small piece of plastic inside it rather than buying another phone.

Vodafone has reduced the price of its Unlimited Plus SIM-only plan to £26 a month, with unlimited data, calls and texts included alongside uncapped speeds and European roaming.

The network says the 24-month offer represents a total saving of £432 against its usual £44 monthly price. That works out at an £18 discount each month before scheduled annual price increases are considered.

There is an important extra hiding behind that headline saving. Customers taking the Vodafone Unlimited Plus deal can use their allowance while roaming across 52 European destinations, including popular holiday spots such as France, Spain, Greece and Portugal.

That could make the plan particularly tempting for anyone heading overseas this summer. European roaming is no longer automatically included with every UK mobile contract, and travellers on plans without it may have to pay a daily charge or purchase a separate roaming pass.

The £26 Vodafone SIM also comes with unlimited picture messages and is 5G+ ready, offering access to Vodafone’s newer mobile technology when customers have a compatible device and are in a supported coverage area.

There are no limits on the amount of UK data included, while the Plus plan does not impose the 100Mbps speed cap found on Vodafone’s standard Unlimited plan. Actual mobile speeds will still depend on the phone being used, local coverage, network traffic and other conditions.

It means customers can continue streaming television, downloading large files, sharing a mobile connection with other devices and scrolling through social media without watching a monthly data counter.

The deal may also appeal to people who have finished paying for their handset but are still on an expensive mobile contract. Moving to a SIM-only plan with unlimited data allows them to keep using their existing phone, provided it is unlocked and compatible with Vodafone’s network.

Anyone switching from another provider can normally keep their existing mobile number by requesting a PAC code. This can usually be obtained by texting PAC to 65075, although customers should check whether they have any remaining contract charges before leaving their current network.

Vodafone is also offering a free three-month Secure Net Mobile trial on eligible plans. The service is designed to help warn customers about suspicious websites, harmful downloads and other online threats, although it becomes a paid subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends.

Families may be able to lower their combined bills further through Vodafone Together. The scheme offers discounted additional plans when several eligible connections are placed on the same account, with additional unlimited-data plans currently advertised from £16 a month.

The main detail customers should not overlook is that the advertised £26 price will not remain fixed throughout the full contract. Vodafone says the monthly charge increases to £28.50 on April 1, 2027, and £31 on April 1, 2028. Customers should factor both increases into the overall cost before committing.

Roaming is also governed by Vodafone’s acceptable-use and fair-use policies, so the inclusion should not be treated as unlimited overseas data without conditions. Travellers should check that their destination and expected usage are covered before leaving the UK.

Even with those caveats, the Unlimited Plus offer brings together several benefits that normally push SIM-only prices higher, including unrestricted UK data, uncapped speeds and inclusive European roaming.

People who already own a phone they are happy with can see the Vodafone SIM-only deal and check the latest price here. Availability and promotional pricing can change, so the amount shown at checkout should be checked before an order is completed.
