Passengers are facing delays due to a fault

Customers are being warned that a signalling fault between two train stations is causing significant disruption.

Delays, cancellations and revised timetables are anticipated to last until the end of the day between Portsmouth Harbour and Portsmouth and Southsea due to a fault.

South Western Railway wrote on social media saying: “All lines between Portsmouth Harbour and Portsmouth & Southsea are currently blocked.

“We have received an update and disruption to our services is now expected until the end of the day. As the investigations are ongoing this may change but we will update you if it does.”

As a result of the ongoing disruption, trains starting or finishing their journeys at Portsmouth Harbour will now be cancelled, and will either start or finish at Portsmouth and Southsea or Fratton.

Engineers are currently on site, and have fixed the points to allow trains to run into and out of Portsmouth Harbour but additional replacement parts are required. These have been scheduled to be replaced overnight.
