M275: Portsmouth motorway to be closed in both directions for council works - when, times
The closure has been announced by National Highways
A major motorway will be closed overnight for maintenance works.
National Highways South East reports that the M275 northbound will be shut tonight (August 10). It will be closed in both directions between 9pm tonight and 5am tomorrow morning (August 11).
The traffic authority said: “M275 northbound closed from the Rudmore roundabout to both directions of the M27 Carriageway for Portsmouth City Council works.”
The M275 underwent “essential” bridge maintenance works throughout May, with diversions put in place for motorists. Traffic was diverted for a time via the Tipner interchange roundabout.
At the time, councillor Peter Candlish - cabinet member for transport - said work like this keeps one of the city’s most important routes safe and reliable. He added: “The work forms part of a wider preventative programme designed to keep Portsmouth’s roads well-maintained and triple green rated by the government and to ensure the network resilient for the future.”
