Watch as vital bridge maintenance is completed on a major road out of the city this weekend.
The M275 northbound will remain closed until 5am on Monday, June 1 while “essential bridge maintenance” is completed.
Diversions have been in place and the council has advised drivers to plan ahead and to allow extra time for their journey due to disruption.
Traffic leaving Portsmouth via the M275 during the closure will be diverted via the Tipner Interchange roundabout.
There will also be traffic management measures in place on Hope Street, Mile End Road and the M275 and on both Church Street / Mile End Road and Rudmore roundabouts to help manage traffic flow around the affected area.
Cllr Peter Candlish, Cabinet Member for Transport at Portsmouth City Council, previously said: “Carrying out work on the M275 northbound is not something we do lightly, but this is essential work to keep one of the city’s most important routes safe and reliable.
“The work forms part of a wider preventative programme designed to keep Portsmouth’s roads well-maintained and triple green rated by the government and to ensure the network resilient for the future."
