LIVE: A3 closures near Hindhead Tunnel lifted following serious crash

Part of a busy dual carriageway has reopened after being closed for the majority of yesterday following a “serious” crash which required investigative work.

The crash, which was first reported to National Highways at approximately 10.20am resulted in the southbound carriageway being closed between the A333 Hindhead and the B2131 Hindhead.

In an updated post yesterday evening National Highways wrote on its X, saying: “The #A3 southbound is now closed between the #A31 (#HogsBack#Guildford) and the #B2131 (#Liphook) following a serious collision.

“Collision investigation ongoing at scene. The road is likely to remain closed through the evening rush hour so allow extra journey time.”

Just before 8pm, National Highways confirmed the lane closures had been lifted following investigative work.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has been contacted for more information.
