Council in Hampshire sends out notice about traveller encampment in Fair Oak

A council has sent out a notice to residents over a traveller encampment in a public car park

A traveller encampment has been set up in a car park in Fair Oak, a council has warned.

Fair Oak and Horton Heath Parish Council confirmed that an unauthorised encampment has appeared in the car park off Knowle Lane today.

The parish council owns the site, and members are having discussions with council staff, Hampshire police, Eastleigh Borough Council and legal representatives.

In a statement, the parish council said it “regrets to report” the situation and is working with partner agencies to resolve it “as soon as possible”.

Residents have been urged to report any concerns linked to the encampment.

In a post on Facebook, the parish council said: “If you witness any anti-social behaviour please report it via 101. Anything life-threatening or if a crime is in progress must be reported via 999.”

It comes after a group of travellers set up near Hammerley Road in Horton Heath were served an eviction notice.
