Valentine's Day: Quality Wrestling to host couples' training session after owner Rishi found true love via sport

When most of us think about Valentine’s Day, we think of candle-lit dinners, bouquets of roses and spending quality time with our loved one.

For Rishi and Lisa Marie Ghosh, however, their romance places them firmly inside the wrestling ring instead.

After meeting through mutual friends at a wrestling event, their love blossomed and in December 2024, the pair got married. Now, they are preparing to host a Valentine’s Day training session - and everyone is invited to join in on the fun.

Rishi, known as the Prince of Mumbai when he’s in the ring, spearheads the Quality Wresting Academy. He has been wrestling for more than two decades, performing at the likes of the O2 Arena in London and the Steve Allen Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.

He said: “As a teenager, I used to watch the WWF back then uh on cable TV. So, I've always been a fan of wrestling and we actually met through mutual friends at wrestling.

“I was watching a show that he was in; then we got together from there and I think probably first did a training session about five years ago. It's just gone from there really.”

The wrestling sessions are being held on Saturday, February 14 at Fort Purbrook. There will be an ultimate training session in the morning, those who already know the basics followed followed by a children’s session with fun games to build cardio and strength, followed by learning some of the basic moves on a crash mat - plus a special session for couples to take part.

Rishi said: “Valentine’s Day is a chance to do something special with your loved one or a special person in your life. So, we have a special Valentine's Day couples wrestling session.

“You're not looking to take your opponent's head off - you’re working as a team. You can bond through the teamwork, learn some simple wrestling techniques, learn some wrestling fundamentals, and I guess just have fun learning the art of wrestling.

“It's an entertainment show. It's got big characters doing live stunts and telling a story to the audience.”

Quality Wrestling works in collaboration with other wrestling organisations in Portsmouth and the surrounding area. Their next event is Q Wrestling Mania on Sunday, March 22, with two shows taking place at Castle View Academy in Allaway Avenue, Paulsgrove. Tickets for shows and training sessions are available on the Quality Wrestling website.
