Funland Fright Night postponed due to Storm Austen safety concerns
Halloween event postponed
An impending storm has prompted organisers of a popular fright night event to postpone due to safety concerns.
Hayling Island’s Funland Fright Night, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 24, has been moved as Storm Austen threatens to batter the country, with winds reaching 70 mph in some areas.
A yellow weather warning has been issued for Friday, October 23 between midnight and 5pm, with horrible weather continuing throughout the weekend.
Organisers at Funland have confirmed the difficult decision was made with the safety of guests, staff and performers as the top priority.
In an announcement on social media, it said: “Unfortunately, due to the current weather warning now being extended into Saturday and Saturday night, we have had to make the difficult decision to postpone Funland Fright Night on Saturday 24th October. The health and safety of all our guests, staff and performers is our absolute priority, and we feel this is the safest and most responsible decision to make.
“We are very sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this may cause, especially for those who have been looking forward to the event. Unfortunately, the weather conditions are beyond our control, and the safety of everyone attending must come first.”
The amusement park has confirmed the event will now take place on Sunday, October 25. Customers have now been advised they can move their booking to attend the new date, or they can attend on Friday, October 30. Alternatively, a refund is an option.
The event, which takes place between 5pm and 9pm, features unlimited rides all night, a firework display, horror mazes, a fancy dress competition and spooky treats.
Funland Fright Night is only open to guests with a ticket which costs £20 per person.
