Painting at Hilsea Lido nears completion with protective tent scheduled to be taken down
The removal of the huge protective tent covering Hilsea Lido is pending as work makes remarkable progress since the previous update.
The Portsmouth City Council has been providing fortnightly updates about the multi-million pound regeneration project at Hilsea Lido since work started earlier this year.
At 90 years old, the lido had fallen into a state of disrepair and could no longer be used safely, prompting the renovation work, which is being paid for by the Levelling Up Fund and carried out by Beard.

Once complete, the lido will be restored to its former glory and people will also have access to new changing rooms, benches, tables and a sauna.
In the council’s most recent update, it has been confirmed that the protective tent covering the pool will be removed after Christmas, with the tiles being covered by timber to prevent damage during this process.
The painting has also made significant progress and the painters will be back soon to complete any touch up work needed. Once this has been done, there is a 14 day curing period for the paint.
This summer it was announced that Sea Lanes Brighton will be taking over as the new operator of the site with plans in the pipeline to create a programme of events at the lido once it is up and running.
