Today (May 1), his family has paid tribute to him, saying: “Zain was a brave, funny and deeply loyal young man who brought light and laughter into our lives. He was loved by his family and friends more than words can express. His warmth, kindness and spirit will remain with us always.

“Our hearts are broken but we take comfort in the memories we shared and the joy he gave us in his 17 years. Zain loved riding his motorbike, and we take comfort in knowing he was out doing something he loved.

“We have been overwhelmed by the support and kind messages we’ve received and we are truly grateful for everyone who has reached out. We also want to thank the emergency services for their efforts at the scene and for their compassion and support during this unimaginable time.”

“I hope you know wherever you are now that I will always be thinking about you.”

Another person said: “I’m honestly struggling to put into words what you meant to everyone. From when I met you to through to college you were so funny and made my day.”

Two people, a 17-year-old boy and a 29-year-old man from Southampton, who were in the VW Polo were initially arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless/inconsiderate driving.

The 17-year-old has since been released from custody and will face no further action in relation to this offence.

The 29-year-old man has been released but remains under investigation whilst police enquiries continue.
