Three people riding jet ski near Langstone Harbour rescued by Gosport lifeboat crew
Training was interrupted but the crews sped across the Solent in response
Three people riding a jet ski had to be rescued by lifeboat crews.
Volunteer personnel from the Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service (GAFIRS) rushed to save the trio on Sunday (September 27). They were training at the time of the emergency callout.

A social media statement said: “Sunday’s duty day saw both of our lifeboats put through their paces, and it wasn’t long before that training was put into action. Following the morning crew brief, both Gosport Lifeboat, the Joan Dora Fuller, and Gosport Inshore Lifeboat, the Ian Fuller, launched for a period of training.
“Almost immediately, both crews were tasked by Solent Coastguard to assist a jet ski with three people onboard which had suffered steering failure close to the entrance to Langstone Harbour.”
Two lifeboats were used to tow the maritime craft to safety. All three individuals were reported safe and well. GAFIRS said the incident was a great example of crews putting their training into practice when it mattered most.
