Tens of thousands raised for Poppy Appeal in Fareham as dedicated volunteers set to return this year
Members of the public are encouraged to support the armed forces community
Devoted volunteers will be launching the Poppy Appeal in Fareham once again after raising tens of thousands of pounds last year.
The Royal British Legion is set to begin this year’s appeal at Fareham Shopping Centre from October 22 until November 11. Visitors are being encouraged to purchase their poppies and support the cause across the Remembrance period.

The charity confirmed that £70,776.04 was raised in the town last year, contributing to £1,082,907.43 across the south of Hampshire. Councillor Frair Burgess, executive member for leisure and community at Fareham Borough Council, is calling on the community to support the cause once again.
She said: “Fareham is steeped in armed forces history and so many members of our community have close personal connections with those who have served our country. I am delighted that Fareham Shopping Centre will be supporting the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal once again and encourage anyone visiting the centre during the remembrance period to make a donation and wear their poppies with pride.”
The Royal British Legion provides practical and emotional support to serving personnel and their families, as well as veterans. This includes help with financial difficulties, employment, housing, mobility and mental health, as well as advice and guidance when needed.
Mike Taylor, centre manager at Fareham Shopping Centre, said: “We’re pleased to be supporting the Royal British Legion and the Poppy Appeal again this year. It’s an important time of year for the community, giving us all an opportunity to remember those who have served while also supporting those who may need help today.
“We hope our shoppers will take the opportunity to support the appeal when they visit the centre. Every donation, however big or small, can make a real difference to the Armed Forces community.”
