Officers are out on the roads to keep the public safe, as the number of drink and drug driving incidents often increase over the Christmas period. The force said: “RPU B-Relief took part in Operation Limit, a campaign to identify drink and drug drivers.

“We attended various routes identified as HIGH RISK for collisions and stopped vehicles committing traffic offences. All drivers were supportive of the operation and undertook roadside breath and drugs wipes.

“The fact is, this method of identifying drivers using the roads under the influence of drugs or alcohol works and can save lives.” The Roads Policing Unit added that various other traffic offence reports were submitted, with on driver speeding at 58mph in a 40mph zone.
