"Extremely serious assault" - Teenage boy jailed for three years after stabbing a man in Hedge End
A teenage boy has been jailed for three years for an “extremely serious assault” where he stabbed a man.
The boy, who is now 16, was arrested when he was 15-years-old after he stabbed a man in his 30s at an address on Alder Avenue, Hedge End shortly after 11pm on April 29, 2025.
Appearing at Southampton Crown Court on Monday, January 19, the teenager who can’t be named for legal reasons, was sentenced to three years in prison. He was found guilty following a trial at the same court between October 14 and October 24 where he was also found guilty of possession of an offensive weapon.
In addition to the above sentence, the boy will also be subject to a ten-year restraining order, meaning he is not permitted to have any contact with the victim.

Speaking after the sentencing, Detective Sergeant Andrew Ferguson, of Eastleigh Criminal Investigation Department, said: “This was an extremely serious assault, which mercifully did not result in a more tragic outcome for the victim. Thankfully, the victim continues to recover from his injuries and the boy responsible has been held accountable for his violent actions on the evening in question.
“I’d also like to place on record my thanks to all those who assisted and supported us throughout our investigation, enabling us to achieve this result at court.”
