Southsea pensioner jailed after molesting woman, 44, while she slept
A depraved Southsea pensioner has been jailed after he molested a woman while she slept after pretending he wanted to help her.

Graham Stubbs, 71, was told “no” after groping the 44-year-old’s chest while she was feeling sick at his St Andrews Road address on September 10.
Portsmouth Crown Court heard how the woman declined Stubbs’ attempts to take advantage of her. But unperturbed by the rejection, the pest then later sexually assaulted her when she was sleeping.
Stubbs was arrested before being charged with sexual assault and sexual assault by digital penetration. He later admitted both charges and has now been sentenced. Stubbs was sentenced to 11 years in jail with eight months to be served concurrently.
DC Amy Thatcher said: “Stubbs abused the victims’ trust after offering to help her as she was feeling unwell. Instead of helping her, her preyed upon her and sexually assaulted her. I welcome the extended period of his sentence that ensures that he can’t target other women.
“I commend the victim in this case who came forward to secure justice and stop Stubbs from preying on other women, her resilience throughout this case has been extraordinary. I hope this significant sentence helps her moving forward and encourages victims of similar offences to report to us and seek support. Our message is simple, you will be believed and we will investigate thoroughly to wherever possible secure justice and stop people from targeting women and girls”.
A police statement added: “We encourage anyone who has been affected by sexual assault or rape to contact police on 101, where you can speak to an officer in confidence.
“We recognise that not everyone has the confidence to talk to police about what they have experienced. Please be reassured that there are other services available that can offer you specialist support to help you deal with the impact of abuse.”
