Officers wearing helmets and a police dog were deployed to Lake Road, Buckland, on Friday just before 3pm where a 16-year-old was seen being handcuffed by police.

The teenager was on a bus when the alarm was sounded by a member of the public. Pictures from the scene show two officers detaining the boy in a bus layby after the vehicle had pulled over.

Another officer, situated behind the bus, appears ready to act. A witness said: “The police woman had her hand on the cage of the boot door ready to let the dog out.”

However, checks by officers did not reveal any foul play. A force spokesperson said: “Following receipt of information from the public we performed a stop search on a 16-year-old boy on a bus near Lake Road in Portsmouth at 2.52pm on Friday (13 February).

“No items of concern were located and no additional action was required.”
