Man arrested after suitcase full of cannabis found at Gosport house during England World Cup match
Officers in the Gosport have been prioritising drug-related crimes
A man has been arrested after a suitcase full of cannabis was found at an address during a World Cup match.
While England fans were watching the Three Lions secure a 2-1 victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo of July 1, officers were busy in the Gosport area.
Emergency personnel found the narcotics at an address after a “strong smell of cannabis” came wafting from a properly. The force confirmed the operation in a social media statement.
Police added: “Questions were asked and a search of the address was completed. Among the number of items that drew their attention officers found was a suitcase full of cannabis. Five large bags of cannabis from the suitcase have been seized, a male has been arrested, interviewed and released under investigation whilst enquiries are made.
“As with the England team coming together and getting results, this was a joint effort between Gosport and Fareham Neighbourhood Teams, the Response Team, Priority Crime Team, Custody, and our Investigation Officers who will now carry on with the relevant enquiries.”
