Pub group owner Admiral Taverns has confirmed it is investigating a number of allegations raised at The Woodman in London Road.

The pub remains open and is now under a new licensee as the “ongoing” probe into the previous landlord - who left at the start of November - continues. Police have been approached over the allegations.

A spokesperson at Admiral Taverns said: "We are aware of the allegations made against the former operator of The Woodman in Waterlooville and are currently conducting an internal investigation.

“Given it's an ongoing situation, we cannot comment any further but we can confirm the pub is open and trading as normal under a new operator."

The boozer underwent an ‘incredible’ transformation costing £320,000 before reopening on November 15 last year with a celebratory event featuring members of the community.

The new refurbishment included updated flooring throughout, brand new furniture, fixtures, fittings and lighting. A dedicated games and bar area, complete with a pool table and tv, were also be part of the pub’s new look along with brand new lighting and signage at the front of the pub, while the garden had a facelift.

Matthew Gurney, operations director for Proper Pubs, part of Admiral Taverns, said at the time: “I am really excited about seeing The Woodman reopen following such a huge refurbishment – it's looking absolutely fantastic already.”
