Eight unlawful traveller encampments pitched up in Havant borough during July as area inundated
Piles of rubbish were left at different sites
There are currently no traveller groups in Havant borough for the first time in weeks, it has been confirmed.

The area has been inundated with groups during the past month with unlawful encampments on Havant Borough Council land at Scratchface Lane, Bedhampton, and Legion Field, Hayling Island. Another group was on Portsmouth City Council land at Stockheath Common - with their exit delayed after a horse gave birth.
Travellers also descended on the Berewood Estate in Waterlooville twice during July with rubbish left scattered across the field. Human excrement was also left behind.
On July 2 a flock of caravans and mobile homes pitched up off Hambledon Road before being moved on a few days later.
Travellers also camped on a field by Havant Rugby Club leaving piles of rubbish behind them after they left.
Another group pitched up at Barton Field next to the Westleigh Park football ground before leaving for Scratchface Lane in Bedhampton.
In total, is it thought there were eight unlawful encampments across the borough in July.

But amid concerns over where the groups are now located, a Havant Borough Council spokesperson said the area was now currently free of travellers, bringing some relief to locals. “We currently have no unauthorised encampments by travellers in the borough,” they said.
