Attempts to evict travellers in Havant have been delayed due to court being “extremely busy”.
There are currently three unlawful encampments in the borough, two of them being on Havant Borough Council land at Scratchface Lane, Bedhampton, and Legion Field, Hayling Island. The third is on Portsmouth City Council land at Stockheath Common.

A spokesperson for Havant council said: “In relation to the first two encampments mentioned above we are currently waiting on a court date, to gain a section 78 notice, however the court is extremely busy at the moment and therefore this process has been delayed.
“Once we have received instruction from Portsmouth City Council officers from Havant Borough Council will act on their behalf to also gain a section 78 – notice to leave.”
