Bus driver arrested for dangerous driving after crash at The Hard leaves person fighting for life
The area was cordoned off
A bus driver has been arrested for dangerous driving after a “serious” crash left a pedestrian fighting for their life.

Around 10 police cars, an ambulance and accident investigation team raced to the scene around 4.30pm on Monday (August 17), as reported.
A lamppost was knocked over with debris left scattered across the street as police taped off the area.
One eyewitness posted on social media that it “didn’t look very good at all” before adding: “Lamppost taken out, a bus half on half off the pavement and someone being treated.”
Another person said: “Most of the road outside The Hard has been taped off. Looks like a bus somehow crashed. (The bus) was in the middle of the road, a bollard seemingly knocked over out the front of the Co-op. All traffic re-routed.”

Now police have confirmed a person was critically injured during the crash with a Stagecoach bus. A spokesperson said: “Officers are investigating following a serious road traffic collision in Portsmouth. The collision happened at 4.25pm on Monday, August 17 at The Hard and involved a bus and a pedestrian.
“A 39-year-old man from Portsmouth was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.”
The spokesperson added the person has “life threatening injuries”.
