Two pensioners fighting for their lives in hospital after four-car crash on A303 - child injured

A child was also injured in the crash

An elderly man and woman are fighting for their lives in hospital following a major crash.

The A303 is still closed following a four car pile-up which took place at around 12.30pm yesterday (April 12). AN air ambulance, police, and paramedics were all deployed to the scene.

A Vauxhall Mokka, a Ford Puma, a Ford Kuga and a Volvo – had collided on the westbound carriage way between the junctions of Thruxton Circuit and Salisbury Road.

The collision happened between the A342 for Andover and the A338 for Shipton Bellinger. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: “The driver of the Vauxhall, an 82‑year‑old woman, sustained serious, potentially life‑threatening injuries.

“The passenger of the Vauxhall, a 78‑year‑old man, suffered injuries to his chest which are not believed to be life‑threatening or life‑changing. They remain in hospital receiving treatment. A passenger of the Volvo, a 9-year-old girl, also suffered minor injuries.

“The incident remains under investigation at this time. As part of our enquiries, we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, the moments leading up to it, or the immediate aftermath. We are also keen to speak with anyone who may have relevant dash cam footage.”

National Highways South East said resurfacing works are planned, though there is no planned time for the route to be reopened. Anyone with information is advised to call 101, quoting 44260168907, or submit a report online here.
