"Benny woz ere": Southsea Model Village makes light of Benny the dog's great escape with comical board blocking air vent
“Benny woz ere” - those are the comical words sprawled across a now boarded up air vent at Southsea Model Village after a dog wound up trapped in the space earlier this week.
The air vent was not previously blocked off because it had been suspected to be a fox den - but the team have now boarded up the entrance to the vent space, complete with comical phrases marking Benny’s great escape.
The Southsea Model Village’s post said: “The vent has now been securely boarded up and we can confirm there are no animals inside — no dogs, no foxes, and no secret underground society of badgers. All clear.
“Benny is safe, the wall is sealed, and lessons have definitely been learned.Benny has been rescued, debriefed, and politely asked not to do that again.
“Yesterday at the village we learned two important things:
- Old air vents are not a shortcut to the village
- Benny is braver than he is sensible
“Huge thanks to Fire & Rescue for their calm, professional and compassionate response, and to everyone on site for their patience and help during what turned into a very long and very wet afternoon.”
