Pompey FC player donates signed shirt to support The Barbers annual toy drive this Christmas
Christmas kindness is the driving force behind a toy drive which has been organised by a barbers in the city, with a Pompey FC player donating a signed shirt for a charity raffle.
Year after year, the team at The Barbers, in Old Portsmouth, pull out all the stops with their annual toy drive to ensure every child across the area gets a present from Santa.
Partnering up with Spotlight UK, a charity that spans across Berkshire and Hampshire, the barbers has spent the last few weeks taking in toys and using the shop as a collection point.
On top of this, everyone who has donated to the toy drive will be in with a chance of winning a signed Pompey FC shirt, courtesy of Hayden Mathews who has teamed up with the business.
Bob Jennings, manager of The Barbers, said: “We’re proud to have amazing people walk through our barbershop doors — including players who not only represent Portsmouth on the pitch, but also represent the heart of our city off it.
“One of our customers is a Portsmouth FC footballer who is incredibly passionate about giving back, especially when it comes to supporting children and local children’s charities.
“His kindness, time, and genuine care for the community remind us what real role models look like. It’s always special seeing people who use their platform for good — and we’re grateful to have him as part of our barbershop family.”
The Barbers has taken part in the Spotlight UK toy drive for the past few years, with 3,500 young people benefitting from the toys sent into the charity.
