New tiki inspired bar Mahina anticipated to open in Port Solent with former Botanical site thought to be its new home
Tiki hut booths, live music and party vibes are on the horizon as Port Solent prepares to welcome a new bar.
Ripper and Co Southsea announced it would be closing its doors next month following almost three years of trading in Osborne Road and will instead be opening the new venue.
The immersive horror themed bar and restaurant, owned by Dan Swan, said the “decision is not a reflection of performance” and is so the team can focus their “time” and “energy” on a new tiki inspired venue, which is due to open in Port Solent in the spring.
The Southsea bar said: “Ripper & Co has been a hugely loved part of our company, with an amazing team and a loyal community who made it what it was. As Hampshire Pub Co continues to grow, we need to focus our time, energy and attention on the future which includes the opening of Mahina Port Solent.”

The empty unit has space for the food, drink and late-night party space promised by Mahina, with the layout featuring dining space, bar and a dance floor.
The Mahina Facebook post said: “Something new is rising with the tide…
“Introducing MAHINA – Port Solent’s brand new premium tiki bar & late night destination!Inspired by the moon, the ocean and island gods, Mahina blends dark carved woods, glowing moonlight blues and tropical fire to create an immersive, high-energy escape from the ordinary.”
An open date has not been confirmed. Mahina Port Solent has been contacted for more information.
