Hampshire garage offering free pizza and recycled vehicle parts for charity day next weekend
“Keeping a car on the road has become a major expense.”
Free pizza and recycled car parts will both be up for grabs at a community event in Shedfield next weekend.
Silverlake Automotive Recycling in Botley Road will host its annual “U-Pick-It Day” on Saturday, July 18, with proceeds from the event supporting Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
The event gives visitors access to one of the south's largest self-service vehicle recycling yards, where more than 300 vehicles are available for people to source affordable replacement parts. Items ranging from mirrors and headlights to doors, bonnets and mechanical components can be removed and purchased at a fraction of the cost of buying new.

As the cost of motoring continues to rise, recycled vehicle parts are becoming an increasingly popular option for drivers looking to keep repair bills down. Reusing parts also helps reduce waste and lowers the demand for manufacturing new components.
Alongside discounted parts, visitors will be able to take advantage of free battery health checks, complimentary pizza and advice from Silverlake's team, who will be on hand to help people find and remove the parts they need.
Silverlake has been operating in Hampshire for more than 75 years, with the annual U-Pick-It event becoming a popular fixture for local motorists and car enthusiasts.
Allen Prebble, managing director of Silverlake, said: "Keeping a car on the road has become a major expense for many families and recycled parts can make a huge difference. People are often surprised by the quality and affordability of the parts available.
"U-Pick-It Day is about opening our doors to the community, helping people save money and showing how vehicle recycling benefits both motorists and the environment.
"Most importantly, we're proud to be supporting Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. The charity provides an incredible service across our region and every donation made on the day will help ensure it can continue saving lives."
The event is open to local residents, families and car enthusiasts, with donations on the day going towards supporting the Air Ambulance's emergency medical service across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
