Former KFC site still vacant despite gaining late night drinks licence last year

The site of a former KFC remains vacant despite a licence application being granted for late night refreshments last year.

The building on London Road in Cowplain has now been empty since May 2024 when the KFC closed. However it appeared a new eatery would be opening soon when a premises licence was granted by Havant Borough Council at the end of September last year.

Mayfair Assets Limited applied for permission for the site to be used for the provision of late-night refreshment (indoors and outdoors) from Monday to Sunday until midnight.

Despite concerns raised by local residents regarding parking and litter issues, the council granted permission with the committee report stating there was “no factual evidence that the premises on the basis of this application caused any issues”.

Since the licence was granted, there has been no movement at the site with the notification of the licence application still displayed on the windows.
