Two sisters are hoping for a hat-trick after being named regional finalists in the Muddy Stilettos Awards.

Southsea Spirit opened in Albert Road back in 2023 and has since cemented itself as a mainstay in the thriving road of independents.

The bar is the brainchild of sisters, Harriet Scutt and Charlotte Osgood, who have spent the last three years building a community - and their work has not gone unnoticed.

The independent venue is now hoping to be crowned the best bar in Hampshire and Isle of Wight after making it to the regional finals of the Muddy Stilettos Awards.

The nomination marks the third consecutive year the bar has been recognised in the regional awards, with Southsea Spirit the only Portsmouth bar shortlisted in this year’s category.

The annual Muddy Stilettos Awards showcases independent businesses across the country with customers having the opportunity to nominate and vote for their favourite spots.

Harriet and Charlotte said: “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us and voted for us over the years. To be nominated for a third year running means so much to us, and to our whole team.

“As sisters running an independent business, we’ve poured everything into creating a venue people love spending time in, but none of it would be possible without our incredible team who bring Southsea Spirit to life every day.

“To be representing Portsmouth again is something we’re hugely proud of, and to win for the third time would be amazing.”

The bright blue bar, which is known for its gin, spirits and cocktails, also makes its very own gin - Southsea Spirit Tropical - which is a hit with customers.

Southsea Spirit joins a number of independent businesses in the city that are up for recognition in the Muddy Stilettos Awards including the Kings Theatre, Croxton’s Kitchen, Southsea Coffee, Farm Kitchen, Huis, Southsea Local and more.
