"We are thrilled": Cornish Bakery "can't wait" to open "dynamic" two storey site at Gunwharf Quays this spring
Scrumptious pasties will take centre stage as a bespoke bakery opens its second location at Gunwharf Quays.
Cornish Bakery, which first started in Mevagissey, has announced it will be relocating its main bakery to an extensive new two-storey site at Gunwharf Quays this spring.
The business has been part of the designer outlet since 2001 after launching its kiosk, which will continue to operate alongside the new space.
Featuring a spacious orangery and outdoor terrace, Cornish Bakery’s latest site is part of the outlet’s ongoing investment in elevating its retail and hospitality experience.
Cornish Bakery managing director, Mat Finch said: “We are thrilled to be bringing a whole new dynamic space, and experience, to Gunwharf Quays. This is incredibly significant and exciting for us.”
Opening on May 6, the 3,150 sq. foot, bespoke bakery will be one of the company’s biggest and will also introduce a significant new company concept, ‘RISE by Cornish Bakery’, becoming only the second of the company’s 79 bakeries to feature this enhanced format.
Matt added: “The new bakery space will be designed to evolve throughout the day, from relaxed morning coffee to sociable lunches and early evening drinks alongside small plates.
“By bringing the ‘RISE by Cornish Bakery’ concept to Gunwharf Quays, a destination known for innovation, quality retail and a strong sense of place we aim to play a continued role in shaping the future of modern hospitality. We can’t wait to be open.”
The latest Gunwharf Quays addition, which will create 25 jobs, will focus on creating light-filled, design led interiors with a combination of feature lighting, indoor planting and comfortable banquette seating.
A spokesperson for Gunwharf Quays said: “Cornish Bakery has been a much-loved part of Gunwharf Quays since we opened in 2001, so we’re delighted to share that they have chosen to relocate to a new, larger unit to open their second-ever ‘RISE by Cornish Bakery’ concept.
“Formed as part of our ongoing investment works on Marlborough Square, the new store will offer a relaxed, day-to-night experience, marking an exciting moment for our guests. We look forward to seeing them flourish in their new home when RISE opens this May.”
Cornish Bakery will be open between 8am and 8pm everyday once open.
