Whiteley school drives home road safety with new signage

Cornerstone Primary School in Whiteley is encouraging parents and carers to step on the brakes and drive safely with new pavement signage.

The school’s parent-teacher association has introduced the signs near the school which are proven to be highly effective in raising driver awareness.

Signs will display clear messages such as ‘Slow Down’ and ‘Don’t Park Here’ to promote safer driving and parking behaviour and reduce the risk of incidents.

Lynette Key from Cornerstone PTA said: “We’re introducing the signage to give drivers a gentle reminder to ease off the accelerator, park with consideration and take extra care during pick-ups and drop-offs. It’s a small step towards keeping our pupils, families and staff safe when traffic’s busy around the school, reassuring our parents and carers. Barratt David Wilson Homes’ support is hugely appreciated.”

Marketing Manager at Barratt David Wilson Homes Southampton Division Megan Hamlyn said: “Cornerstone Primary School plays a key role in the community surrounding our Forest Walk development in Whiteley, so we were delighted to help the school promote safe and considerate driving. I hope the signs will encourage drivers to be responsible during high-traffic times of day.”

Barratt David Wilson Homes Southampton Division is currently building developments across Hampshire including Forest Walk in Whiteley and Pebble Walk in Hayling Island.
