Waterlooville care home connects with Paulsgrove ARK

Denmead Grange Care Home General Manager Abbie Johnston was delighted to welcome Thomas Hoare, Chairman of Paulsgrove ARK and Hayley Cook an advisor from Portsmouth City Council for a visit earlier this week.

Abbie was then able to present them with a cheque for £768 on behalf of the Barchester Charitable Foundation.

Thomas said ‘we couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas present and are so grateful for their support. We’ve enjoyed a tour of the lovely facilities at Denmead Grange and talked about all the ways we can help our communities.’

Paulsgrove ARK is a group that aims to empower their residents, create community connections, and support a healthier and happier Paulsgrove. Through raising awareness, building on and strengthening the local offer, they want to create a spirit of togetherness. This goal helped secure their grant submission for £768. This will facilitate 3 community food events; ‘fish and chip suppers’ in January, February and March.

This grant was successful because it resonated so clearly with the goals of the Barchester Charitable Foundation. These are ‘to provide important help for older people and adults living with a disability to connect or reconnect with others in their local community’. Their focus is to ‘combat loneliness and enable people to be active and engaged.’

Denmead Grange and the ARK certainly managed to have some very positive discussions, Denmead Grange will attend the first event on 30th January and looks forward to seeing further positive strides made in the wonderful community of Paulsgrove.

Denmead Grange care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering personalised care across its care homes and hospitals. Denmead Grange provides residential and dementia care for 60 residents from respite care to long term stays.
