Two young sailors take on Solent challenge to support Tall Ships Youth Trust
The pair are heading on a journey across the Solent
Two young sailors are setting themselves an ambitious challenge today (23 July) to sail 10 miles across the Solent to raise funds for youth development charity.

Henry (12) and Seren (13) are keen sailors from Thorney Island Sailing Club and are sailing across the Solent in a dinghy, from Chichester Harbour to Bembridge on the Isle of Wight, to raise funds for Tall Ships Youth Trust.. Their ambitious target is to raise £1,000 for Tall Ships Youth Trust. Now, for the first time, they're taking on this independent challenge, and using it to draw attention to something they care deeply about.
"Sailing has given us so much already; not just technical ability on the water, but also the feeling of confidence, development of our communication and leadership skills, and of course making new friends," Henry and Seren explain.

This summer's Solent crossing is their chance to give back. By raising funds for Tall Ships Youth Trust, they're ensuring that other young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, get the same opportunities they've been fortunate to have.
"By completing this challenge, we want to draw attention to the fantastic work of Tall Ships Youth Trust, which is the oldest youth development sail training charity in the UK," they say. "It gets young people on the water, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds who would otherwise not have the opportunity to do so.”
