Three Colleagues, One Shared Journey: Hambleside Merchandise Celebrates 21 Years of Connection
From new recruits to business leaders, three women who joined Hambleside Merchandise within months of each other are celebrating 21 years with the Hampshire company, highlighting a remarkable story of loyalty, growth and the power of connection.

In a business world where changing jobs every few years has become commonplace, Hambleside Merchandise is celebrating a milestone that is becoming increasingly rare. Managing Director Suzie Munday, Operations and Client Relationship Manager Clare Welch, and Artwork and Production Coordinator Natalie Prior are all marking 21 years with the Waterlooville-based promotional merchandise and branded workwear specialist, having joined the company within a six-month period in 2005.
Their shared anniversary comes at an exciting time for Hambleside Merchandise as the company continues to grow its reputation as a trusted supplier of branded merchandise, promotional products and workwear clothing to organisations across the UK. This year, the business is also proud to be sponsoring TEDx Gosport, taking place on 5 September, where the theme is "Connection", a concept that sits at the very heart of everything the company does.
Suzie Munday was the first of the trio to arrive, joining Hambleside Merchandise in April 2005 as a Sales Assistant. Her ambition was clear from the outset: to move into a marketing role as the business expanded. Over the years, she successfully navigated a range of roles, helping shape the company's marketing strategy, customer experience and commercial growth before ultimately being appointed Managing Director and undergoing a management buy-out.
Just four months later, Clare Welch joined the company. Throughout her career at Hambleside Merchandise, Clare has become a central figure in the business, overseeing operations while nurturing strong customer relationships. Her ability to understand client requirements and translate them into seamless service delivery has helped establish many long-term partnerships that continue today.
Natalie Prior completed the trio when she joined in October 2005. Natalie's role sees her working closely with customers to prepare artwork, guide products through production and ensure orders are delivered accurately and on time. Her attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction have helped bring thousands of branded campaigns to life over the past two decades.
Together, the three women have witnessed enormous changes in both the promotional merchandise industry and the wider business landscape. They have seen the rise of digital marketing, changing workplace cultures, evolving sustainability requirements and shifting customer expectations. Yet despite these changes, one principle has remained constant - the importance of creating meaningful connections.
For Hambleside Merchandise, connection is far more than a marketing buzzword.
Whether it's a branded water bottle, a piece of corporate workwear, a conference giveaway or an employee recognition gift, promotional merchandise has a unique ability to place a brand directly into someone's personal space. Unlike many forms of advertising that are quickly forgotten, a useful branded product often remains visible and in use for months or even years, creating repeated interactions between the recipient and the organisation behind it.
The psychology behind merchandise has long fascinated marketers. When a business gives something of genuine value, it often creates a sense of reciprocity, strengthening positive perceptions and encouraging deeper engagement. Every time a branded item is used, worn or seen, it reinforces awareness and builds familiarity. Over time, that familiarity helps nurture trust and connection.
It is a principle that has guided Hambleside Merchandise throughout its history.
Over the past 21 years, the team has continually evolved by staying connected to emerging trends, innovations and customer needs. Rather than simply supplying products, the company works closely with clients to understand their objectives, audiences and brand values before recommending tailored merchandise solutions designed to create lasting impact.
"Our role has always been about much more than putting a logo on a product," said Suzie Munday.
"We help organisations create meaningful connections with employees, customers, prospects and communities. The most successful merchandise campaigns are those that genuinely resonate with the recipient and leave a positive lasting impression. That connection is incredibly powerful, which is why the theme of this year's TEDx Gosport feels particularly relevant to us."
Reflecting on the shared anniversary, Suzie added "To celebrate 21 years alongside Clare and Natalie is incredibly special. We've grown together, adapted together and supported each other through every stage of our careers and our personal lives. The business has changed significantly since 2005, but our commitment to customers and our passion for what we do remains exactly the same."
Clare Welch said "The relationships we've built over the years are what make this business special. Many of our customers have been with us for a long time, and it's rewarding to know we've played a part in their journeys too."
Natalie Prior added "I love helping clients bring their ideas to life. From artwork through to delivery, it's all about making sure the final product achieves the impact they want. Knowing something we've worked on helps strengthen a customer's brand connection is hugely satisfying."
As Hambleside Merchandise looks ahead, the company remains focused on helping organisations communicate, engage and inspire through intelligently chosen branded merchandise and workwear.
For Suzie, Clare and Natalie, however, the milestone is ultimately about people.
After 21 years, countless projects and thousands of customers served, their story is proof that strong connections, whether between colleagues, businesses or brands and their audiences, can stand the test of time.
